Music

We love Music at Isleworth Town! In class, we use our voices, body percussion and instruments to perform and compose music - we really enjoy getting the whole-class glockenspiel sets out. We often use Charanga for our music learning, which introduces us to a range of modern songs and classical pieces, and we love the pitch, pulse and rhythm games which get us up and moving. We also use some of the inspiring music available from the BBC Schools Music site.

In Year 4, we all learn a wind instrument: either the clarinet, tenor horn or trombone. From Year 2 up, we all get the opportunity to learn an instrument through weekly small group lessons provided by Hounslow Music Service:

Year 2-6: Recorder

Year 3-6: Violin, guitar, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone

Year 4-6: Drums

Year 5-6: Saxophone

Parents/carers pay for these lessons, and there is financial support available for eligible families. Musicians who have reached a certain standard may join our orchestra which rehearses at lunchtime once a week.

We enjoy singing in assemblies and our school productions, and often in our day-to-day lessons across the curriculum. Our favourite site for songs is SingUp. We have a school choir for children in Years 3-6, and they regularly perform at local events and venues in the Isleworth area. In 2019 we won the Hounslow School Choir of the year competition, in both the primary and overall categories - come and see the trophies in the main entrance!

We put on concerts twice a year featuring the choir, orchestra and the most advanced instrumentalists - we hope to see you there!
