Remembrance Sunday - The Isleworth 390 Project
We have been participants in the Isleworth 390 project for the past three years. This community project serves to remember the 390 soldiers from Isleworth who lost their lives in the Great War 1924-1918. This year, special remembrance was paid to the seventy soldiers who died in 1916, many during the Battle of the Somme.
The school was represented by Year 6 children, each wearing a sash bearing the name of one of the soldiers. We were joined by other local schools and organisations in a parade from Isleworth Green to the War Memorial where a service was held by local faith leaders and where the children laid a wreath and planted remembrance crosses for each soldier. The children were all given information about the soldier whose name they bore.
"It's really important that we get together to remember those who died." - Jack
"The service was lovely. I really liked the music." - Chizelle
The whole school observed the two minute silence on the playground on Thursday. The children behaved with great respect and maturity.
