Ladybird Class 2016

Summer 1

We have been planting bean and sunflower seeds in the nursery garden. We shall be caring for the seeds and can't wait to see the strong healthy plants that grow. We know that it takes a long time for plants to grow  and we must be patient.

On the art table we have looked at the sunflower paintings by Van Gogh and have made beautiful sunflowers. We have also made number line beanstalks and have practised writing numbers up to 5.

Pocket Plan. Summer Term 2016

Spring 1

This term we will be looking at modern classic stories and moving on to traditional tales  after the half term holiday. Modern-classic stories will include: The Gruffalo- Julia Donaldson, Where’s My Teddy- Jez Alborough, We’re going on a Bear Hunt- Michael Rosen, Peace At Last- Jill Murphy and Owl Babies- Martin Waddell.

Traditional tales will include:  The 3 Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the 3 bears, The 3 Billy Goats Gruff, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Gingerbread Man.

We will be cooking some porridge and gingerbread men and will let you know if we need  donations of ingredients.

We have launched our  Stay and Play session which happens every Friday for  one hour. Stay and Play is when parents and carers come to visit  Nursery with their children. It gives you the opportunity to come and see what play activities the children are experiencing and how they learn through play.

Special Events

We will learn about Chinese New Year, Mothers Day and Easter. We want the children to remember, and talk about the special times  they experience with their families and encourage them to share these significant events with us by bringing in  photographs to show to their class.

Spring 1

Ladybird Class

Welcome to ladybird Class. We have had a very successful start to the new school year and are pleased that the children are settling into the new routine of nursery.

Name labels

Please  name almost everything you can. We have discovered that children's back packs  need to be named because some of the children are coming to nursery with the same bag.

We will be  sending a library book home every Friday. Please could you  bring the red book bag in on a Friday. Ensure that the  book bag is named and the best way is to write the name on the front flap of the book bag.

If you have any questions or concerns about nursery please let me know and I will be available for a quick chat before school or for a longer chat after all the children have been dismissed.  We are dismissing the children slowly and carefully at the end of the session, so thank you very much for your patience.

Spare clothes

Please bring a set of spare clothes (including underwear, t-shirt, leggings or jogging bottoms and socks) into school with your child every day.

Water bottle

Please bring in a named water bottle everyday and sign up for the free milk at

This half term we will be learning all about Ourselves.  We will be talking about where we live and our families. Sharing news about our pets and friends. Asking where we enjoy going with our families and  about our favourite play activities. We will think about the things we are good at.

We shall be reading lots of books about families and creating our own portraits of our families for a display. We will also be focusing upon getting to know our new friends and teachers. We will be cooking some of our favourite things and will let you know if we need  donations of ingredients.
