Kingston Museum
This week we had an exciting visit from Kingston Museum.
We looked at and played with a selection of toys from the past – some of these were nearly 150 years old. We discussed the similarities and differences between the old toys and the new toys we play with today. We noticed that the materials were different and the old toys were not as brightly coloured. Toys from the past were usually made from wood and metal. Many of the toys we play with now are made from plastic. Toys from the past did not use batteries so could not move or light up like our toys of the present.
We made our own versions of a popular Victorian toy, the thaumatrope.
