Welcome to Reception - Starfish!
In Starfish class we have had an exciting start to the term. On the first day back we went on a class trip to Kew Gardens. This was to support our topic for this half of term, our senses. It was a lovely warm and sunny day. We were lucky enough to have lots of parent helpers and the children had a really valuable and worthwhile, as well as fun, day. We went on the tree top walk and listened to the sounds we could hear from up high in the trees. We went into the Palm House and felt some of the leaves of the plants and looked at the beautiful fish in the basement aquarium. We ate a tasty packed lunch (always very important on any school trip). After lunch we looked at the bright flowers in full bloom, and then finished up our day in climbers and creepers which was very popular. You can see photos of our trip below.
The day after the trip was 'Royal Wedding' celebration day and Starfish class enjoyed coming to school dressed as princes and princesses. We had lots of wedding related activities and a whole school lunch in the playground.
Since that week we have been busy learning all about our senses. We have made fabulously creative models and sculptures using lots of different materials. We have had taste tests with crisps, made elderflower cordial and experimented with lots of different smells....some better than others!
We hope you enjoy looking at the photos of our work below.
