Autumn Term

Handa's Surprise - During Black History Week the children explored the story Handa's Surprise, about a girl living in Kenya. Butterfly class loved the story and enjoyed pretending to be Handa carrying baskets of fruit on their heads. They learned about some of the fruits Handa carried and made fruit-salad cups.

Nursery Rhymes

Butterfly class have learnt to sing many songs and nursery rhymes. Our Bakery role-play area was great fun which reinforced the rhyme '5 Currant Buns in a baker's shop'. The children made salt-dough buns to sell in the baker shop and made their own tasty bread rolls....yum!

Autumn, Divali & Fireworks!

Butterfly class have been noticing the change in the season to Autumn. They have created Autumn leaf pictures and paintings; been on an Autumn exploration in the field outside the Early Years playground; and sung Autumn songs. We celebrated Divali, the Hindu Festival of Light, and we were very lucky to have one of our parents visit Butterfly class to show us how Hindu's celebrate this beautiful festival.

The children were also very excited about Bonfire night and created wonderful firework paintings and playdough creations.

Christmas in Butterfly Class 2014

What a wonderful  time the children in Butterfly Class had over the festive period. We are so proud of them for learning all the songs for the Christmas performance and for being so brave performing for all the grown-ups that came to the show. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. It was an exciting time and as the photographs below will show, the children were very busy preparing for Christmas. We also had Father Christmas visit us too!

On behalf of myself, Mrs Devlin, Mrs Lynch, Mr Brewin and Miss Thomson, thankyou very much to you all for the lovely and generous gifts you gave to us for Christmas.
